SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS
1-12 AUGUST 2009

"Without doubt the best
tour we've ever been on. We were looking for legends, history, romance and
intrigue and this trip turned out to be everything we wished it would be -
awesome." Harold & Lucille Olesen,
Fort Collins, CO
The Scot’s are a proud
and independent people (the only churchman to sign the
American Declaration of Independence was a minister of the
Church of Scotland). They have traveled far & wide to leave
their mark and yet their hearts always remain in the craggy
mountains and wild moors of this northern land. Today,
Scotland’s population is not quite 5 Million and yet it is estimated that 27 Million people world wide can trace their line
back to this great country.
The Highlands are a
curious blend of the stark and savage that somehow combines with the
gentle tranquility of sheltered glens that live to the sound of
meandering streams and the rustle of the Atlantic winds of the bows of
ancient forests. Truly, this is a northern land where the tree line
only rises to 1,500 feet elevation. In mid summer it is quite possible
to read your newspaper in the garden at almost midnight. Today, the
total Highland population is only 250,000 and so the pace of life is
gentle. Roads are almost always single track where motorists take
time to wave and grid lock means there are sheep on the road ahead.
Like so many Scots families,
the old generation remains in the Highlands, while the new has settled
in America. We invite you to join us, in this our Highland home on a
journey through history, a journey through the wild and sweeping
landscapes of an almost forgotten corner of Europe where a warm
welcome & spirited time are assured.
Our adventure starts in
Edinburgh, ancient capital of Scotland and will take us to the rugged
western Highlands & Islands and end at
Culloden, site of the last pitched battle on British soil in 1746.
Your
journey will be a tour de force at the end of which you will have come
to understand more than simply the charm of this ancient land and her
people but will come to have appreciate it’s stunning beauty, intriguing
history and incredible romance.
Scotland has much to offer - intriguing history, colorful culture and
tremendous hiking. What we offer our guests in Scotland, as with all
our itineraries, is diversity & flexibility yet always delivering first
class guiding to the hiker or the cultural explorer.
